Duty to make reasonable Accomodation

The Employment and Equality Acts (1998-2015) oblige employers to make reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities.
A disability is defined as both the total and partial absence of a persons bodily or mental functions. A condition, illness or disease which affects a persons thought process, perception of reality, emotions or judgement. Menopause reaches this threshold and thereby qualifies as a disability inder the Employment and Equality Acts.

As an employer you must take appropriate measures to meet the needs of disabled people in the workplace. For example, , your companies usual policies on sicknessabsence or performance management may need to be adjusted to take specific account of the effects of the menopause symptoms.
